Wardle Road Safety Animation

Four classes from Shawclough Primary came to Middleton CLC during the Autumn term to work on a series of stop-frame animation projects telling the story of 'Boudicca'.
The classes had prepared scenery and backgrounds for each of the scenes that they had planned on a storyboard. They also drew the characters on paper, cut them out and then attached sticks to the back to make them stand up on the stage. Bringing all this preparation to the City Learning Centre they were shown how to use the cameras and the 'I Can Animate' software. The students made a short animation using glass pebbles experimenting with a variety of animation techniques, capture speeds and movements as well as camera positioning.
Once they were confident in working with the equipment and software students worked in small groups to create a one minute animation depicting the story of 'Boudicca'. All the animations were given to the school on CD and the staff are hoping to add a audio commentary back at school as an extension activity.
