Wardle Road Safety Animation

Tuesday this week saw Year 5 pupils from St. Peter's RC Primary School, Middleton take part in our first CSI event - 'The Case of the Lost Skull'. (Scenario involved CLC staff finding a small animal skull with money and a note outside the CLC entrance - five people claim the items belong to them . . . and so the investigation started).
Having split into four groups of seven, pupils participated in a range of evidence gathering activities having been shown the 'mystery scene'. CLC staff-led activities included 'Blood Typing', 'Footprint Analysis', 'Chromatography of Pen Ink', 'Hair and Fibre Analysis' as well as identifying the animal 'Skull', a key item left at the scene using a 'Dichotomous Key'. After gathering their evidence the four groups of pupils received an information pack about each of the five 'claimants' following interviews earlier in the day.
Pupils spent the early part of the afternoon collating their evidence and drawing their conclusions. Each group presented their findings, justifying their evidence and giving their version of 'what might have happened'. Thankfully the evidence proved conclusive and the items were returned to their rightful owner.
