Middleton and Rochdale City Learning Centres (CLCs) welcome every primary, secondary and special school in the borough to make use of its excellent facilities and resources. The City Learning Centres provide access to the latest technology and innovative learning and teaching tools.
Full details of Middleton and Rochdale City Learning Centre's accommodation, resources and support are available elsewhere on the CLC website. Details of some of the teaching and learning opportunities available to all staff and pupils throughout key stages 1-5 are available via the links below. This is not a prescriptive list of activities and staff wishing to adapt, combine or develop additional sessions are most welcome.
Use of the City Learning Centres, their resources and staff are free* to Rochdale schools and the CLCs continue to 'match fund' the costs of transport to and from the centre. (*a small charge may be made for consumables/materials during some activities)
To ensure 'best value' a minimum full day session must be undertaken by those schools travelling by coach. Morning sessions at each City Learning Centre - collection time from school is usually between 9.15am and 9.30am and departure from the CLC is between 12.00pm and 12.30pm. Afternoon sessions at each City Learning Centre - collection is usually between 12.45pm and 1.00pm and departure from the CLC is between 3.00pm and 4.00pm.
Staff wishing to visit the CLC should contact Curriculum Development Manager Melody Smith on 0161 653 9123 to discuss arrangements as well as undertake any necessary planning and preparation. It is important that all activities are fully planned and all the necessary documentation is completed by schools well in advance of visits. All visiting staff will be asked to complete a Pre-visit Data Collection Form and a School Visit Evaluation Form.
For further details please contact Melody Smith or John McKiernan on 0161 653 9123
