Middleton and Rochdale City Learning Centre's role . . .
The diplomas are designed to help students make decisions about their future by encouraging them to develop specialist skills in their chosen area of study. These new qualifications are being introduced to students aged 14 to 19, providing them with a mixture of classroom learning, creative thinking and practical hands on experience.
Starting in September 2008 the City Learning Centres have been playing its part this new programme, offering Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) support and delivering sessions in support of the IT and Creative and Media diplomas. September 2009 will see the CLCs expand its Additional and Specialist Learning (ASL) provision with 'Digital Cre8or' and iMedia being offered to Diploma students. If your school is interested in finding out how we can help you with one of these new qualifications, whether it is with the use of our high tech equipment, latest professional standard software or our specialist knowledge in the areas please do not hesitate to contact us.
IT - Information Technology
The Diploma in IT will look at how organisations work and the role technology can play. Students will learn what different people in the industry do – as well as how to manage projects, design new business solutions, develop websites, manage networks and deliver IT support. They will also explore the use of technology in business, and learn how to create digital media solutions to meet requirements.
Creative and Media
The Diploma in Creative and Media teaches students how to master skills that are central to creative roles. They will learn how to think, question, explore, create and communicate - and bring ideas to life through making, performing and doing. It will also teach them to be aware of their surroundings, as well as becoming a critical thinker, good communicator and creative practitioner.
Details of the CLC's Additional and Specialist Learning in support of the Diploma programme is available at Diploma ASL 2009-10.
